On April 6, 1924, eight U.S Army Air Service pilots and mechanics in four airplanes left Seattle, Washington, to carry out the first circumnavigation of the globe by air. The airplanes were named for American cities, the Seattle, Chicago, Boston and the New Orleanse. The trip took 175 days, made 74 stops and covered 27,550 miles. Listed for auction is the autograph of Leslie P. Arnold [1893 1961] who was a aviation pioneer and military pilot who was the copilot of the Cruiser Chicago which was one of the two aircraft able to complete the 1924 Around the World flight. Listed for auction is the autograph of Leslie P. Arnold signed on a Air Mail postal envelope. The autograph is signed ''Leslie P. Aenold U.S Army World Flight April 6th - Sept 28th, 1924'' in black fountain pen. The postal cover measures 6.50 x 3.50 inches, it has trivial toning otherwise it is in fine condition.
